On the call

Say these four things

  1. 01

    Where the water is

Which room, which floor, and whether it is coming from a pipe, a fixture or the ceiling.

  2. 02

    Whether it is still running

If you reached the shutoff, say which valve and whether the water slowed or stopped.

  3. 03

    What you have switched off

The water heater, the breaker for a wet room. Do not stand in water to reach a panel.

  4. 04

    How to find you

The street and a cross street. Say if the door is hard to see in the dark.

Water still running? Stop reading and call.

Not sure where the shutoff is? The field manual finds it by the year your house was built.
